Yobs smear paint over houses

YOBS hurled white paint over the front of three St Helens homes on Monday night.

Residents of Bidston Avenue in Blackbrook woke up to the shocking vandalism the following morning.

Cliff Waring, the former chairman of the Blackbrook tenants and residents association, told how 30-strong gangs of youths cause mischief on the estate every night.

But he said the latest incident proved that the situation was now well and truly out of control.

He said: “These kids are out smashing things up on the estate every night. They’ve already pulled trees down, bashed the bark off some of the trees with broken scooters all night long and smashed up bins.

“But now they’ve thrown 20 litres of paint over the front of three of the houses too.”

He added: “Bidston Avenue was turned into a Build A Home zone a few years back to help make everything nice. But it’s just back to square one now.”

A police spokesman confirmed: “A report of a number of youths throwing white paint around Bidston Avenue was received at about 9.10pm on Monday. Inquiries are being made in relation to the matter.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
