Triple amputee war veteran writes autobiography
Corporal Andy Reid
WAR hero Andy Reid has launched his autobiography.
The triple amputee, who nearly lost his life in a bomb blast on an Afghan battlefield, unveiled his inspirational autobiography, Standing Tall, in a book launch at Langtree Park.
The 36-year-old’s life story doesn’t just hinge on “the moment that changed everything” either.
He tells how much of the inspiration to come to terms with his life-changing injuries came from his mother, who lost a leg in an accident when he was young.
Since the 2009 bomb blast, Andy, of Windle, has not only taught himself to walk again but has got married, become a father for the first time, met numerous celebrities and embarked on a new career as a motivational speaker.
He and wife Claire even made a guest appearance on the BBC Two show Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmets a fortnight ago.
Standing Tall is available to buy now on the Amazon website.
It features a line on the cover which reads: “The Taliban nearly killed me ... but they couldn’t take away my fighting spirit. This is my inspirational story.”
