Teenager charged with raping girl, 15, in park

A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in a St Helens park.

Carl Wheal stands accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe that she was consenting in Linear Park, Rainford, on March 25.

The 18-year-old, of Windermere Drive, Rainford, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court last week but is yet to enter a plea.

Wheal has also been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, destroying somebody else’s mobile phone and attempted GBH. The case was listed for further mention on June 25.
