TEENAGE twins have been charged with money laundering following a spate of car thefts across St Helens.
The pair, who are aged 17 and from St Helens, appeared at St Helens Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning to answer charges theft, handling stolen good and money laundering.
They arrested last week after police raided an address in Victoria Road, Newton-le-Willows, at around 2pm on Wednesday (August 28).
Officers recovered a car stolen earlier this week from Cheshire. Further searches uncovered several other vehicles and a number of catalytic convertors being stored at the property.
Police say they unsure if these items have been reported as stolen.
The two lads, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke only to give their name and addresses. Neither youngster entered a plea.
JPs released the pair on conditional bail but they were ordered to reappear at magistrates on September 11.
The arrests follow a warning issued last week by Merseyside Police urging drivers to secure their vehicles following a spate of van thefts in St Helens this summer.
Police made last week’s raids following a tip-off from a member of the public.
