Suspension for school head
Rainford High Technology College.
RAINFORD High’s headteacher Ruth Greenall has been suspended from her post.
It follows concerns about her leadership and a slip in results over recent years.
Rainford was once regularly the borough’s best performing school.
Mrs Greenall was due to leave the school this summer but an independent report commissioned LEA chiefs concluded action was needed early to prevent further deteriation in standards.
A letter to parents from the chair of governors John Bromilow said: “Mrs Greenwood was suspended due to concerns raised over issues relating to leadership and management.
“An investigation will commence shortly and the outcome will be reported in due course.
“I am unable to go into further detail in relation to Mrs Greenwood’s absence; however, I would like to request that parents do not ask staff or the governing body for any information regarding this matter.”
Current deputy head Terry Rigby is expected to take the reins during Mrs Greenwood’s suspension.
Ofsted last judged to the school, which is set in the most affluent area in the borough, as satisfactory.

Monday, February 6, 2012 at 04:31 PMMr Rigby will not be 'taking the reins'. The school has engaged Liz Nicholls, a national leader in education undertake running the school until a permanent head can be found. Also, this isn't really 'news' since the first word of Mrs Greenwood's suspension occurred almost two weeks ago.
