A St Helens man has been charged with murder after an assault victim suffered fatal injuries.
Jamie Hughes, 33, of no fixed abode, is set to appear before Liverpool and Knowsley Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday, August 16).
He was charged with murder following an incident at a house on Beacon Grove, Blackbrook, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Police were called to an alleged assault at 2.20am.
But when they arrived at the scene the victim - named as 35-year-old Paul John Tully - had died.
A post-mortem examination was set to be carried out to establish the cause of death.
A second 33-year-old man, arrested on Friday on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
