A student nurse who feared she would have to retake her entire three-year degree after vital coursework was stolen by thieves has been told she can continue her studies.
The trainee lost three years’ worth of work when her car was stolen from the driveway of a house in Newton-le-Willow.
But now police, who are still appealing for witnesses to come forward, say the victim’s college has confirmed she will be not be kicked off the course.
However, she may still have to re-do some course work from her first and second years.
The trainee nurse’s ordeal began when she discovered her BMW had been taken from outside a house on Pipit Avenue on Saturday, May 24 at around 8.30am.
It is believed the offenders smashed a glass panel in the front door, stole the keys and then drove off in the car, which is a 63 plate.
Det Con Tracy Awbery, of St Helens CID, said: “We are obviously keen to trace the car that was stolen but the most important thing for the victim is the safe return of the coursework.”
