Stopped in their tracks

SAFETY-conscious youngsters in Whiston have been helping tackle the menace to speeding motorists.

They used radar equipment to track the speed of drivers on a busy road near their school - St Leo’s and Southmead primary.

They also looked at how many drivers were wearing seatbelts and how long it would take them to stop if a child stepped out into the road.

The Year 6 pupils discussed the results later and watched a DVD about the effects of drivers and passengers behaving badly.

The project was part of the ‘Life in the Fast Lane’ scheme run by Knowsley Council’s Road Safety team.
