Steve Prescott out of hospital
Steve Prescott
EX Saints star Steve Prescott MBE was released from hospital last week following his participation in a gruelling 48-hour Engage Mutual Race to the Super League Grand Final.
The 38-year-old, who is battling a rare form of abdominal cancer, was admitted to hospital last Monday evening (October 8) with severe stomach pains after he successfully swam, ran, cycled and canoed from Hull to Manchester.
Following a series of tests, doctors established that, due to the rigours of the challenge, he had lost a substantial amount of natural fuels and fluids.
A range of treatments were prescribed, along with morphine to relieve the pain. Prescott was released from hospital last Thursday (October 11) - announcing the news via his Twitter account.
But he was back at The Christie Hospital in Manchester this week after suffering an infection.
Prescott’s Race to the Grand Final saw the ex rugby ace run across the Humber Bridge, swim a mile in open water and then cycle from Hull to Liverpool where he swam the Mersey, before running between Liverpool and Runcorn and canoeing up the Bridgewater Canal.
