ST Helens Council, Age UK Mid Mersey and Senior Voice have joined forces to help residents keep warm this winter - without breaking the bank.

At a special event at the Mansion House in Victoria Park a new free phone helpline number was promoted - 0800 355878.

Winter survival packs were also distributed, which contained a hat, scarf, gloves, card temperature gauge, hand warmer and advice booklet.

Similar events are set to take place at Derbyshire Hill Family and Community Centre between 10am-2pm on February 9 and at Rainhill Scout hut, Old Lane, between 9am-1pm on February 11.

There will also be winter warmer events at the scout hut on Birley Street, Newton-le-Willows, from 10am-2pm on February 18 and at Rainhill Scout Group, Deepdale Drive, from 2pm-4pm on February 25. Packs will be given to vulnerable St Helens residents on a first come first served basis.
