Pets at Home store opening in Prescot

SIX jobs are set to be created by the opening of a new £500,000 store.

A Pets at Home store is set to open on the Cables Retail Park in Prescot this Friday.

It will provide thousands of dedicated pet products for local dogs, cats, small animals, reptiles, chickens, birds, fish and wildlife. There will also be a Groom Room and a Companion Care vet surgery.

Pets at Home bosses say are committed to recruiting from the local area, but applicants must first go through a rigorous process to assess their compatibility for the role.

With animal welfare at the heart of the business, they always aim to employ pet lovers to serve pet lovers.

Store manager Rachel Woodward, who has been with Pets at Home for more than six years, is the proud owner of two rabbits, Suzie and Sweep, and a guinea pig called Stuart. Rachel and her team have undergone special training to further develop their pet care expertise ahead of the store opening.

She said: “I love my job and working with pets. We are all passionate about pets. Every day brings new challenges and it’s never the same two days running.

“I enjoy interacting with customers and giving them the help and advice they need.

“Thanks to Pets at Home, I am fully qualified to advise on all types of pets from rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas to fish and reptiles.

“I’m delighted to be opening our new store in Prescot. It will offer everything a pet owner could wish for, all under one roof.”

Pets at Home, founded in 1991, employs more than 5,200 people across the UK. It was runner-up in The Sunday Times’ Top 25 Best Big Companies to Work For 2012.
