A second St Helens man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man suffered fatal injuries at a house in Blackbrook in the early hours of yesterday (Thursday).
The second suspect, a 33-year-old man, was questioned by detectives before being released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Another man, also aged 33, arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.
Police were called to a house on Beacon Grove, at about 2.20am, following a report a man had been assaulted.
On arrival, officers found the body of a 35-year-old man inside the house. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A post-mortem examination is set to be carried out to establish the cause of death. Police are yet to reveal the victim’s identity.
The house was cordoned off whilst forensic examinations were undertaken and officers are carried out house-to-house inquiries in the local area.
