Road closed at rush hour

POLICE closed one of the busiest roads in St Helens during rush hour yesterday following an oil spill.

Residents spotted the spillage on Carr Mill Road at around 5pm.

Council officials were called to scene and asked police to shut the road while they worked.

A town hall spokeswoman said the “small amount” of oil was cleared quickly and the road was re-opened at around 6pm.
