Steve Prescott MBE is set to take on a "quadrathon".

EX-SAINTS star Steve Prescott MBE is used to pushing himself to the limit in the name of charity.

But even he admits that his latest charity challenge looks set to be the toughest he has ever attempted.

In the days before this year’s Super League Grand Final, Steve and 30 pals are set to take on a 48-hour ‘quadrathon’ to raise cash for the Steve Prescott Foundation.

Starting on October 4, the fund-raisers are aiming swim the Humber and cycle from Hull to Liverpool before swimming the Mersey, running to Runcorn and canoeing the Bridgewater Canal to Old Trafford – in time for the Grand Final kick-off on October 6.

Backed by Engage Mutual, it is hoped that the challenge will raise more than £30,000 for the Steve Prescott Foundation, which was set up by the ex international following his diagnosis with a rare form of stomach cancer in 2006.

The foundation splits funding between The Christie cancer hospital in Manchester, where Steve has undergone extensive treatment, and Try Assist - the rugby league benevolent fund.

Steve Prescott said: “We’ve undertaken a number of challenges over the last few years but this will be the toughest, not just in terms of the activities but the timescales involved.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved for committing themselves to what will be another gruelling event in order to raise money for good causes.”

Amazingly, this is Steve’s second charity challenge of 2012 following his Paris to London marathon challenge which he successfully completed with ex-Great Britain captain Paul Sculthorpe earlier this year.
