Police have released the name of a pensioner found dead at his home in Watery Lane on Wednesday

Police have named an 89-year-old man who was found dead in his Sutton home on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to Leonard Levy’s Watery Lane home by officials from a St Helens housing association who were concerned for his welfare because he had not been seen for several weeks.

It it believed the man had been dead for some time when his body was discovered.

Police forced their way into the property at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Forensic officers were at the scene for most of Wednesday afternoon.

A force spokesman said a post-mortem would be conducted this week in a bid to discover the cause of death.

Meanwhile, St Helens coroner Christopher Sumner is appealing for the public’s help to track down Mr Levy’s next of kin.

Mr Levy’s family, or anyone who knows the whereabouts of his next of kin, are asked to call Whiston Coroner’s Office on 0151 430 1238 or sthk.coroner@nhs.net
