New York inspiration for make-up artist
IT isn't quite Sex in the City!
But St Helens make-up artist Maureen McGonigle is as close as you'll get to Carrie Bradshaw and the girls.
The Haresfinch businesswoman has just returned from New York where she spent a week training with showbiz make-up artist Paula Dorf, who has worked on the hit TV show Sex in the City.
Maureen, owner of Beauty and Co. on Woodlands Road, hung out with Paula and learned beauty tips during the luxury week in the Big Apple.
She said: "Walking into Paula's office was like stepping into a celebrity haven with photographs on the wall of her pictured with Hilary Clinton and Barbara Streisand."
She added: "It was a fantastic experience, I learned a lot and made many friends."
Maureen and four other makeup experts from the UK flew to New York last month. They were encouraged to try Paula's own products which have been praised by all the best fashion magazines.
The group then followed Paula's team of artists around New York's smartest department stores Bloomingdales and Henry Bendels where they watched them perform makeovers on eager shoppers.
Maureen who has owned Beauty and Co. for seven years and specialises in makeup for weddings is now stocking Paula Dorf products.
She added: "I have tried Paula Dorf products and really like them. At a beauty show at the G-Mex in Manchester I volunteered to work on her stand.
"Some members of Paula Dorf's team praised me on their return to New York and I was contacted and invited to go over to America.
"The first few days were really intense, learning about all the products and techniques, but we were treated like celebrities. We went to lovely restaurants for brunch and were really spoilt."
