Murder hunt launched after man found dying

A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found at a house in Whiston with fatal injuries to his neck and arms.

The male victim, believed to be in his 50s, was found by paramedics at a house on Martock in Whiston at around 2.40pm on Sunday.

Officers had been called to the address after receiving reports that a man had suffered serious cut wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital but died on route.

Police later arrested a 51-year-old man.

He is currently being questioned by police at a Merseyside police station.

The scene today remains sealed off while forensic officers search the area.

A police spokesman said the victim had not yet been formally identified and appealed for next of kin to come forward.

A Home Office post mortem is expected to take place over the next few days to establish the cause of death.
