A 49-year-old Prescot man who died after a road accident on the Rainford by-pass has been named.

David Thomas Clarke-Frear was killed as he drove along the Bickerstaffe stretch of the road close to the Blue Elephant pub at around 8.30am on Monday (July 29).

He was involved in a collision with a Renault Scenic as the car was turning right across a gap in the central reservation.

Mr Clark-Frear died at the scene.

Sgt Mick Young, of Lancashire Police, said: “I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision to get in touch and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting log number LC-20140728-0263.

“A police family liaison officer is supporting David’s family at this difficult time.”
