Police are investigating after the body of a 93-year-old man was found at a flat in Sutton today (Wednesday).
Officers were called to the address on Watery Lane by officials from a St Helens housing association who were concerned for the man’s welfare because he had not been seen for several weeks.
It it believed the man had been dead for some time his body was discovered.
Police forced their way into the property at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained by officers.
Forensic officers were at the scene for most of Wednesday afternoon.
A force spokesman said a post-mortem would be carried out some time this week in a bid to discover the cause of death.
