Man charged with wrench attack

A ST Helens man has denied attacking a man with a knife and a wrench.

Jason Fitzgibbon, 39, of Renworth Gardens, St Helens, pleaded not guilty to unlawful wounding and wounding with intent following a violent incident in Whiston on March 3 last year.

Victim Michael Scraggs, 52, suffered serious injuries near to the Village Inn in Whiston and spent five days in hospital recovering from his injuries.

Daniel Smith, 25, of Warren Road, Blundellsands, also entered not guilty pleas on the same charges.

Both are set to go on trial at Carlisle Crown Court on July 30.
