A GARSWOOD man has admitted a string of benefit fraud offences.

Terence Rollason, 61, of Old Colliery Yard, pleaded guilty to four benefit fraud offences of failing to declare his true circumstances that he knew would affect his entitlement to Housing and Council Tax Benefit.

He had failed to declare all his Savings and Income to St Helens Council’s benefits department, resulting in an overpayment of benefit totalling £6789.83.

Terence Rollason was sentenced to a four month curfew order and ordered to pay legal costs of £80. He was also required to pay back the overpayment in full.

The case was brought by St Helens Council’s Benefit Fraud Team based at Lincoln House, Corporation Street, St Helens. If you want to report a fraud call the Benefit Fraud Hotline on: 0800 953 0217 or email benefitfraud@sthelens.gov.uk
