A St Helens man has been charged with a string of historic sex offences dating back to the early 1980s.

Paul Robinson, 50, is accused of nine counts of indecently assaulting three girls under the age of 16.

The offences are all said to have taken place in St Helens between 1983 and 1993.

Mr Robinson, of Speakman Road, Dentons Green, denied all the charges when he appeared at St Helens Magistrates’ Court.

The 50-year-old was released on conditional bail with an order not to contact the three alleged victims or to have unsupervised contact with under 16s.

He is next due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court next month.
