A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Spain on suspicion of a series of raids, including one in Rainford, targeting members of the region’s Chinese community.
Daniel Challinor, of Croxdale Road, West Derby, was seized by Spanish police in Marbella on Thursday, July 17.
He was subsequently brought back to the UK by detectives from Merseyside Police and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery at the Nationwide Bank on Prescot Road on 14 February 2014; conspiracy to commit burglary; conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and two offences of handling stolen goods.
Challinor will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates today (Friday).
The charges follow an investigation into seven aggravated burglaries and robberies across Merseyside.
At the time, detectives were linking the incidents, in which all victims were members of the Chinese community.
Officers are investigating incidents that took place between Friday, 7 February and Tuesday, 4 March in Allerton, Aigburth, Childwall, Anfield, Wavertree, Rainford and West Derby.
All incidents involved a group of men dressed in black with their faces covered forcing their way into properties before threatening the occupants and stealing cash and jewellery.
