Lewis’s Royal appointment
Lewis Cassidy
A FORMER student who hit rock bottom after becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol is set to meet HRH Prince Charles after turning his life around.
Lewis Cassidy is set to meet the Prince of Wales next month after totally rebuilding his life via the Prince’s Trust’s team programme - run by St Helens College.
After successfully completing the programme, the 22-year-old got a job as an apprentice electro-mechanical engineer and has never looked back.
In 2011, Lewis’s determination to overcome obstacles to gain employment won him the British Land Flying Start Award at The Prince’s Trust & Samsung Success regional award.
He is now set to attend The Prince’s Trust National Celebrate Success Final after being shortlisted for a national award.
The red carpet event will be held at the Odeon in Leicester Square, London, where Lewis will meet HRH The Prince of Wales. Vicky Kelly, who ran the Prince’s Trust programme at St Helens College, said: “Lewis’s story is inspirational and he deserves every success. He has come along way since those dark days and we wish him the best of luck for the awards.”
