Learning is fun for Johnny

JOHNNY Vegas knows school is cool!

That’s why the Thatto Heath funnyman has thrown his weight behind a council-run scheme to help parents support their children’s learning.

He presented certificates to 34 schools involved in the Family Learning project beore chatting with some of the parents.

The projects gives parents the chance to find out how their children are taught and provides practical tips on how they can help.

It was also an opportunity for parents to brush up on their own maths and English!

Handing over the certificates Johnny praised the hard work of teachers and parents, adding: “These parents should be really proud of the support they have given their children.

“I’ve enjoyed helping my own son with his schoolwork, though I have had to remind myself of some of the things I had forgotten!”

Pat O’Brien, Community and Family Learning Manager, added: ” Schools and parents working in partnership give children positive messages about learning.

“Learning is not something that stops at the school gate. Family Learning gives families the chance to learn and have fun together.”
