YOUNGSTERS from across St Helens have taken part in a project teaching them the dangers of fireworks.

Around 2,000 pupils were involved in the Crucial Crew scheme, which is aimed at year five pupils, and includes a series of role playing scenarios.

Others areas focused include personal safety, crime prevention and social responsibility.

The scheme utilises a number of sets and representatives from the emergency services also play a role in the event organised by St Helens Council.
