Here we snow again

The snow has started falling in St Helens.

The snow has started falling in St Helens.

WE all knew it was coming - and the snow started falling across St Helens from early this morning.

Many schools either closed altogether, shut around lunch time or allowed early pick ups.

Forecasters say residents should be braced for further snow showers throughout the day until about 9pm.

Sub zero temperatures look set to remain over the weekend too, before the possibility of further snow on Monday evening (January 21).

St Helens Council’s gritting teams were out gritting the town’s primary routes throughout the night, completing their mission at about 6.30am on Friday.

They were also set to grit roads and paths around schools during the day.

The St Helens Cold Weather Emergency Helpline has been set up to assist people through the winter months and is available until the end of March.

If you need help keeping warm and healthy this winter, you’re snowed in or you want to get hold of a Winter Survival Pack call freephone 08000 355 878.
