A TEENAGER is in a serious condition after she was knocked down by a car while pushing a pram near a busy junction.

The girl, believed to be 16-years-old, was hit by a Renault Megane on Knowsley Road - near the junction with Cambridge Road - at about 4pm last Thursday (April 19).

A police spokeswoman confirmed that she was taken to Whiston Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

She suffered a fractured pelvis, a broken collarbone, a suspected broken ankle and cuts and lacerations.

Luckily, the baby in the pram escaped with little more than “a minor bump to the head”.

The driver of the Renault Megane stopped at the scene and is now helping police with their inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has information which could help the police with their inquiries, is asked to call Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5444 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
