A man has been hit with a curfew order after he admitted setting fire to a wheelie bin.
John Hardman, 39, of Marsden Avenue, Queen’s Park, was sentenced to a four-month curfew order as well as compensation when he appeared at St Helens Magistrates’ Court last week.
Kate Morris, a community fire prevention advocate based at St Helens Community Fire Station, said: “We investigate every fire we are called to and pass information to police to help bring those who commit arson to court and to face the consequences of their crimes.
“We work with and liaise with the police, council and other partners if there is a deliberate fire, including those involving wheelie bins.
“But we also urge people not to leave wheelie bins out.”
