Fairer system for tenants

TENANTS in Prescot and Whiston are being offered a greater choice of social housing by the creation of a new region-wide housing scheme.

Property Pool Plus is a new system jointly managed by Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral councils, alongside local Registered Providers of Social Housing.

It aims to provide a fair and transparent system to help tenants who are looking to move properties.

And as the costs will be shared between the partners, the new system will be more cost effective.

A spokesman for Knowsley Council said: “Property Pool Plus allows applicants to actively search for and bid on properties they are interested in.

“It will also give people more flexibility as they can access this service at a place and time that is convenient to them. Existing tenants can use the system to advertise to exchange their property

“By having a single system across Merseyside and just one application form, applicants will find the process much simpler.”

All existing applicants details have been transferred to the new system and they will all soon receive a letter to inform them of how to use the new system Applicants can visit www.propertypoolplus.org.uk for more information about the scheme.

Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson, chairman of the Liverpool City Region Cabinet, said: “Property Pool Plus is an excellent new scheme which gives residents across Merseyside more choice and control when it comes to finding suitable properties.

“All of the partners involved are committed to helping applicants find the most appropriate properties for them and their families and we will work together to support them.

“Finding the right allocation of housing helps us to make the best use of our housing stock and strengthens our communities.”
