A FORMER St Helens ace has been charged with a vicious road rage attack.

Jason Roach, 41, is said to have assaulted a female motorist during an altercation on Church Road, Haydock.

It is alleged Roach (pictured) flew into a violent rage after a minor traffic incident. Roach, who also played for Warrington, is alleged to have leapt out of his car and attacked the driver.

He was later arrested and has been charged with common assault, three public order offences and driving without due care and attention.

Ex-Scotland international Roach, of Church Road, Haydock, will appear before magistrates in St Helens on July 13.

He played for Saints from 1989 to 1994 before signing for Warrington Wolves and ending his career with stints at Swinton Lions and Blackpool Panthers.
