AN elderly man suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash.

Emergency crews were called to Manchester Road in Prescot shortly before midday on Friday (August 24).

Firefighters helped paramedics to carefully remove an 84-year-old man from one of the vehicles.

The casualty was conscious, but was taken to nearby Whiston Hospital suffering from head and spinal injuries.

Two men from the other vehicle involved in the crash, aged 27 and 28, were assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

Firefighters from Huyton and Croxteth made both vehicles safe and remained at the scene until about 12.30pm.
