A kind-hearted support worker is travelling overseas on a life-changing tour to support those in need.
Darren Forshaw from North West charity Alternative Futures Group (AFG) is travelling to Gambia, Africa with four colleagues as ambassadors to support to adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
The trip will see the group share their experiences and help with health and wellbeing matters.
Darren, from Haydock, said: “I’m really excited about the study trip and looking forward to learning about mental health issues in the Gambia and experiencing the culture.
“It’s also an opportunity to share some of my experiences from working at a hospital in the UK.
“It would be great if as a result of the project we can help those in need and hopefully start to change perceptions.”
The group leaves for the Gambia on March 29, followed by further study tours scheduled over the next two years.
