Chimney struck by lightning

Lightning struck the chimney stack on top of two St Helens homes during the storms last Tuesday evening (June 10).

Fire crews from Eccleston and Whiston were called to two houses of Patterdale Drive and Cumberland Avenue shortly after 7.30pm.

Luckily, nobody was injured.

Crews remained at the scene for about an hour and requested the assistance of a structural engineer to check the safety of the chimney stack.
