St Helens College is celebrating after being awarded fantastic Ofsted results.
Inspectors spent a week at the college’s two campuses, in Waterside, Pocket Nook, and used group and individual interviews, telephone calls and online questionnaires to gather the views of employees and learners.
The inspectors also evaluated the effectiveness of leadership and management.
The report, which was published this week, praised the college’s progress towards outstanding status.
Principal Dr Jette Burford (pictured) said: “We are extremely pleased with our result.
“The achievement is an excellent outcome for the college and is the culmination of hard work and determination shown by both students and colleagues. We made a clear commitment to drive up education standards for the benefit of the communities in St Helens borough.
“The Ofsted report is just one of the many successes we have seen recently that reinforces the realisation of that ambition.
“However, we will not be stopping to celebrate for long. We have a clear strategy and relentless determination to succeed on our journey to outstanding.”
St Helens Council’s Cabinet member for schools and lifelong learning, Coun Sue Murphy, said “This is a very good report and well deserved.
“Ofsted has clearly recognised the considerable progress.”
