NEW York funksters the Fun Lovin’ Criminals are set to headline a free concert in St Helens this month.
The US alternative hip hop group, often referred to by their acronym FLC, are set to wow crowds at the Music Live event on Church Square on Saturday, August 27.
Supported by Fame Academy soul sensation Lemar, X Factor’s Laura White, Daniel de Bourg and Rachel Adedeji, and hot new boyband Encore, FLC will strut their stuff outside St Helens Town Hall between 4pm-9pm.
Best known for their 90s hit Scooby Snacks, which includes samples from several Quentin Tarantino movies, the Fun Lovin’ Criminals were formed back in 1993 by Huey Morgan and Brian “Fast” Leiser.
After signing a record deal with EMI, their debut album Come Find Yourself, released in 1995, peaked at number seven in the UK album chart.
While still touring extensively, FLC recorded their second album 100% Columbian - which included the 1999 single Korean Bodega.
The band’s third studio album Loco was released in 2001 and, in 2008, they performed at the world-famous Glastonbury music festival on the Jazz World Stage.
Music Live, funded by the European Regional Development Fund, also brings together X Factor’s Laura White, Daniel de Bourg and Rachel Adedeji, as well as soul star Lemar.
Lemar, who first came to prominence on the BBC talent show Fame Academy, has since won two Brit awards and three MOBO awards.
Best known for his hits Dance With You, If There’s Any Justice and It’s Not That Easy, Lemar also featured on Band Aid 20’s single Do They Know It’s Christmas?
