KNIFE-wielding thugs stormed into a takeaway before threatening staff and making off with mobile phones and cash.

Two masked robbers targeted the Domino’s Pizza takeaway on Church Road in Haydock last Thursday evening (March 31).

Police were called to the scene at about 6.25pm after two men - armed with a large knife - entered the shop via the back door.

The robbers then threatened staff and stole mobile phones and cash before making a getaway in what is thought to be a dark blue Vauxhall Astra.

The first offender is described as white, 5ft 7ins-5ft 10ins tall with a skinny to medium build and aged between 20-25 years old.

He was wearing black clothes with a grey hoodie, with the hood up. His face was covered with a clack scarf or mask. The second offender is described as 5ft 10ins-6ft tall, with a skinny to medium build and aged between 25-30 years. He had red hair, red eyebrows and pale blue eyes. He was dressed all in black with a hood up and his face covered. Both robbers spoke with Liverpool accents.

The staff were left extremely shaken up by the incident but nobody was injured.

A forensic examination and house-to-house enquiries have already taken place and officers are now examining local CCTV footage in a bid to identify the offenders.
