SAINTS legend Keiron Cunningham officially opened his namesake housing development - then landed a £500 cheque for a local youth side.

Cunningham, now a coach with the club, was the special guest at the official launch of Cunningham Grange alongside MP Shaun Woodward.

They were then invited to tour the development before tucking into complimentary jacket potatoes and viewing a stunning fireworks display.

Stephen Grant, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “Our event was designed to appeal to a wide audience, reflecting the range of homes we have on offer here, and from the feedback we received on the day our guests certainly enjoyed the treats we had in store for them.”

Taylor Wimpey also presented Keiron and the Blackbrook Royals, the side his son plays for, with a cheque for £500. The money will be used to help fund their overseas tour next year.

The former Great Britain ace added: “It’s an honour for the development to be named after me so when I was invited to cut the red ribbon I was more than happy to do so. The event was made even more memorable by the donation to Blackbrook Royals.”
