Jobs boost for youngsters

A NEW service aimed specifically at helping young jobseekers to find work has been launched by St Helens Chamber.

The service, launched courtesy of funding from the Skills Funding Agency, is aimed at helping 19 to 24-year-olds who are not in education, employment or training to develop their skills and boost their chances of finding a job.

With youth unemployment at worrying levels, young people in St Helens have been hit equally hard by the effects of the economic downturn, with more than 2000 local 18 to 24-year-olds now claiming unemployment benefits.

The course is aimed at the growing number of young people who don’t have the skill levels necessary to apply for vacancies.

If you live in St Helens, are aged 19-24 and have been unemployed for 13 weeks or more then this new service can offer you a way to develop your skills and become more employable.

If you are interested, and are willing to commit to a six-week programme, call 01744 742018.
