An investigation has been launched into the sudden death of a 13-year-old girl.
Megan Hopwood was found collapsed on Eglington Avenue, Whiston, shortly after 9pm on Saturday (September 7) after apparently falling from a child’s scooter.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that a patrol car was flagged down by members of the public following the discovery of the collapsed teen.
Paramedics rushed her to nearby Whiston Hospital where, tragically, she was pronounced dead.
A post mortem is set to be conducted today (Tuesday) to establish the cause of death and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading to her collapse.
Police say an investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is “ongoing”.
Meanwhile, a Facebook tribute page in Megan’s honour has already attracted thousands of “likes” and scores of messages of condolence.
Anyone with information about the incident can call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6560.
