Hyundai i20

used wlrp wwrp Hyundai is on a roll, now producing family cars that more than ever are able to take the fight directly to the volume market leaders. One of the first of these was the company’s i20 supermini, launched here in 2009, but more recently improved with sharper styling, extra equipment and more frugal running costs. It’s a car that can take on its toughest Fiesta-class rivals head to head with cutting edge design to match cutting edge value and pricing. Economical, roomy, well-equipped, tightly built and covered by an excellent warranty, there’s nothing ambiguous about this little car’s appeal.

Hyundai played it pretty safe with the looks of the original version of this car and it was clear that something a little more avant garde would be required for the facelift. Hence an attractive exterior makeover that features smarter wheel designs plus a hexagonal front grille in keeping with Hyundai’s current fluidic sculpture design.

Nor do the engines let the side down when it comes to economy and emissions. Headlining the i20’s eco-credentials is the ‘Blue’ variant, which is powered by Hyundai’s ultra-efficient 1.1-litre 75PS “U-ll” three-cylinder diesel engine that, combined with Intelligent Stop and Go and low rolling resistance tyres, emits a mere 84g/km - making it the lowest-emitting diesel engine in the UK. Coupled with low emissions, the i20 Blue is capable of returning 88.3mpg on the combined cycle. For petrol people, the popular 1.2-litre petrol engine is now cleaner, more efficient and more powerful than before, managing 57.7mpg on the combined cycle and putting out a very competitive 114g/km of CO2.
