THE Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for parts of the North West, amid flooding fears.
Up to 60mm of rain is expected to fall in some places today (Friday), but that could rise to as much as 100mm.
The downpours could lead to surface water flooding of roads and land, the Environment Agency has warned.
The government agency has urged people in the region to be prepared for the possibility of flooding from this afternoon through to Saturday.
Environment Agency teams are set to go out checking flood defences to try to reduce the risk.
And people are being warned to stay away from swollen rivers and not to drive through floodwater.
