Girl, 16, in hospital following stabbing

A 16-year-old girl has been hospitalised following a stabbing during a brawl near a St Helens leisure centre.

Merseyside Police were called to Boundary Road at around 1am on Saturday, March 11 to reports of a fight between a group of people close to Queens Park Leisure Centre.

Officers have confirmed that a 16-year-old girl received an injury which was “consistent with a knife being used.”

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, and her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Another 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of wounding under section 19 and has been released pending a disposal decision.

An investigation is currently underway, CCTV enquiries have been carried out in the local area and a number of witnesses have been spoken to.
