FORMER St Helens MP Shaun Woodward has split up from his wife after almost 30 years of marriage.
The 57-year-old, who represented St Helens South as a Labour member from 2001 to May this year, has separated from Camilla, an heiress to the Sainsbury’s supermarket fortune, after 28 years of marriage.
The couple said they had come to the decision after “careful consideration.”
Mr Woodward, a former Tory, was said to have formed a close relationship with Luke Redgrave, 48, grandson of acting legend Sir Michael Redgrave.
The two have been friends for years, with Mr Woodward questioned over rumours of an affair 15 years ago.
The former MP and his wife – who have four children including celebrity food blogger and writer Ella Woodward, 24 – own several properties including homes in New York, Mustique and the south of France.
In a statement, Mr Woodward, who lives in Thames-side and Camilla told The Sun on Sunday: “This obviously is a very private matter. We made our decision a long time ago and, after very careful consideration, then shared this with our children, family and friends nearly six months ago. We will always be a family which remains loving of each other.”
