A POIGNANT tribute has been paid to a passenger killed in a horror motorway crash near Rainhill.
The family of Direct Fitness gym boss Marc Heywood, 28, described him as “a cheeky chappy” and “a true gent”.
Mr Heywood, of Bolton, suffered fatal injuries when the BMW he was travelling in collided with an M62 motorway barrier on the night of January 25.
A tribute read: “Marc was a doting and loving father to his two children Oliver, three, and Dillon, aged six months, and his two step-children Maddie and Ben. He was ambitious in running his business and well respected in the fitness industry, having started the company from his parents’ garage.
“He was fondly referred to as ‘G’ for ‘Gaffer’ by his staff and was a cheeky chappie, popular and everyone’s best mate. He would do anything for anyone and was genuine, generous and a true gent.”
Mr Heywood’s family added: “You could not ask for more from a friend, a son or a brother. He was supportive, well-loved and brightened up a room.
“He always kept us going through the hard times and was the life and soul of the party who will be missed by everyone, including his wife Melanie.”
Anyone who witnessed the horror crash is asked to call Merseyside Police on 101 or leave information with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
