Detectives are hunting a group of men and women who lobbed a lit firework into a car park in Prescot, injuring one man.

The incident happened just after 6.30pm on Friday, November 1 at Prescot train station.

Detectives say a group of two men and two women were seen close to the station before one of the gang hurled the missile.

PC Paul Hevey, of the British Transport Police, said: “One of the four threw a firework into the car park, causing significant damage to a car and nearly injuring the driver who was in the car at the time.

“Clearly the offender gave no thought to the safety of others and it is only through sheer good luck that this did not become a more serious incident.

“It is imperative that we trace those responsible and I am calling on anyone with information about the incident to come forward.”
