A 64-year-old Eccleston man has admitted allowing his dog to foul in Taylor Park.
Clive Rogers, of Springfield Lane, Eccleston, gave a false name and address in a deliberate attempt to avoid the £80 fixed penalty notice when he was stopped by council officials.
However, officials eventually tracked him down to his home address.
He was fined a total of £400 and ordered to pay £800 costs.
Councillor Seve Gomez Aspron, Cabinet Member for Environment and Neighbourhoods said: “Irresponsible dog walkers who believe they can ‘get
away’ by giving false details to officers are very much mistaken.
“The council will use all the tools available, to track down these offenders and the courts will deal with them accordingly as Mr Rogers has now found to his cost.
“Dog walkers have no excuse, to not clean up when their dog fouls. Free ‘Poop-Scoops’ are available at all Libraries and many housing providers offices.”
