COUNCIL chiefs are reminding residents it’s not late to nominate someone to carry the Olympic flame.

It is a chance to reward someone who has made contributions to your community or someone who has made a great personal achievement?

And officials at Knowsley Council are particularly keen for residents in the borough to get in touch.

The Olympic sponsors are offering a further opportunity to nominate them for a once in a lifetime opportunity to be an Olympic torchbearer.

The Olympic Torch Relay will take place from 19 May to 27 July 2012. The torch will travel across the UK for 70 days and 8,000 inspirational people will carry the Olympic flame.

Coca Cola are asking the general public to vote for their Future Flames via their website (http://www.cokezone.co.uk/home/index.jsp). There are a total of 500 available across the UK and nominations close on 5 September.

Lloyds TSB are also looking for their own torchbearers. Nominations are open until 12 September and there are 839 places available. Further details can be found at https://www.lloydstsblondon2012.co.uk/carrytheflame/nominate/

Samsung is the third official sponsor offering a chance for people to nominate torchbearers. There 448 places available through this process and the deadline is 30 September. Further details are available at http://www.samsung.com/uk/london2012/nominate.html

Winners will be announced in December 2011.
