ENGINEERS are warning of more delays ahead as workers put the finishing touches on the Saints bridge.
The work to complete the bridge will start on Monday (April 30) and is expected to be completed by May 11.
A council spokesman said: “Although the council hopes to complete the work earlier, progress will depend on weather conditions.
“The north side of the dual carriageway (same side as the KFC restaurant) will be closed to traffic first, with work switching to the south side halfway through.
“A diversion route will operate along Peasley Cross Lane, Sherdley Road and St Helens Linkway.
“The current milder weather, along with the availability of a specialist painting contractor, gives the council its first opportunity to complete a series of protective coatings to the bridge arches - ensuring long-term durability.”
Pedestrians won’t be affected.
