St Helens Councillor Jo-Ann Willmitt was given a fixed penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly following last week’s local elections, police have confirmed.

Coun Willmitt, 37, who sits on the Town Hall’s licensing committee and has a scrutiny role on the safer communities panel, was arrested following “a disturbance” outside the Imperial nightclub shortly before 12.30am on May 24.

She had not been standing for re-election but was out celebrating Labour’s local election success.
